At TSE, we help all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by helping our students find success inside and out of the classroom through an instructional approach that focuses on enhancing students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills.

The mission of Tamassee-Salem Elementary is to provide a safe learning environment where all students reach their full potential.  This statement is truly what drives every decision we make at Tamassee-Salem Elementary. Our teachers use Daily 5, guided reading groups, and flexible math grouping to deliver instruction in small group settings.

At Tamassee-Salem Elementary, we are always analyzing state, district, and school wide formative and summative assessment data to drive our daily instruction to meet our students’ individual academic needs.  Our MAP (Measuring Academic Progress) and Fastbridge data are some of the many data pieces we use to maximize enrichment and remediation opportunities for each student at Tamassee-Salem Elementary based on academic strengths and weaknesses.  Our school wide focus is to maximize individual student growth through our instructional practices and delivery. We use our assessment data as progress monitoring tools to help us challenge each student at individually appropriate levels to maximize individual academic growth.

To further enhance academic growth, interpersonal skills, collaboration and teamwork, our students are provided many opportunities during and after school hours to grow academically and socially.  We have a student council group for students in grades 3-5, and after school chorus, running club, green team, lego team, and an art club for our students. Our guidance counselor provides monthly lessons to each class to help our students develop better character and leadership skills.  We also have our Cougar Helpers program, which provides leadership building opportunities for our TSE students.

Our PTO and SIC play important roles in our success as well.  Our PTO sponsors our annual Fall Festival each year, which gives our families an opportunity to enjoy time together outside of school hours while at TSE.  As you can see, there are so many great things happening at Tamassee-Salem Elementary, and we are very proud of our students. Our success is only possible because of the dedication and commitment from all of our students, staff members, parents, community members, and business partners.
